American Legion Post 20, Fort Pierre                                                                   

The American Legion Post 20 in Ft. Pierre is sponsoring efforts to help Gabriel Broghammer. Gabriel is a 9 year old boy who is in desperate need of a kidney transplant. Post 20 will be hosting the beverage concessions at the upcoming Ft. Pierre Rodeo on July 3 and 4th. Silver City Volunteer Fire Dept.                                                                            

Please come join the annual Silver City Social.  This year’s event includes a Pie and Ice Cream Social, Sloppy Joes, a Volksmarch, and Artisan Fair. This event is Sunday, July 10th at the Silver City Community Hall near Pactola Lake.  The proceeds go to help support the Silver City Volunteer Fire Department.  The Silver City Road is 1.5 miles north of the U.S. 385 and State Highway 44 west intersection. Mystic Mountain Run                                                                                               

The 46th Annual Mystic Mountain Run will be Sunday, July 10th with registration at 7:30am and race starts at 9:00 am.  Take Hwy 14 from Hill City to where it branches oto Deerfield and go straight ahead for about 5 miles on 231.  Cost is $25 per person.  FMI: sdrunnersshop.com

National Park Service                                                                                              

The National Park Service (NPS) is turning 100 years old on August 25th! In order to celebrate this occasion, the Monument has designated special days throughout the summer and early fall as Junior Ranger Days.

On the following Saturdays July 23, August 27, and September 24, Jewel Cave is hosting special Junior Ranger programs from 10:00 – 11:30 a.m. Each program will have a specific topic, and participants will get to bring home some type of arts and crafts related to that day’s theme. These special programs are geared for kids ages 3-12.  FMI: 673.8300

 

West River Human Trafficking Force                                                                   

Free the Black Hills, and the West River Human Trafficking Task Force, will be using lip balm as a tool to fight human trafficking in our communities.  Lip balms, labeled with the human trafficking hotline number and pointed questions, will be distributed during the rally and other events, to provide victims with a way out, and bystanders with a way to report.  Want to help?

Sponsor a case of 1,000 lip balms for $200 or donate any amount to Countryside Church (please note ‘lip balm’)

 

Cornerstone Rescue Mission                                                                                   

Through Sept., Cornerstone Mission’s residents are making crepes to benefit the mission.  The crepes will be sold at Cornerstone’s booth each Thursday night during Summer Nights.  This is an opportunity for them to learn job skills. FMI: 605.341.2844
